The first point I am obliged to make is that I am NOT an architect. After leaving school I undertook quite a few different roles including retail management, chalet manager and business analyst. I returned to education in 2004 at the University of Brighton to complete a two year Foundation Degree in Construction Studies (Architectural Technology). After graduating with distinction I was employed as an architectural technician at David Jenkins Design for five years where I gained invaluable experience of working in an RIBA Chartered Architects Practice. I set up Mid Sussex Design in 2011 after a change in my personal circumstances and my aim is to help residential clients gain the statutory approvals from Planning and Building Control. Most projects comprise of three stages (1) measured survey & as existing drawings; (2) design & planning application; (3) building regulations application. I have generated a good working relationship with Planning & Building Control at Mid Sussex District Council so prefer to work with clients in the Mid Sussex area. Once the statutory approvals have been gained my clients generally approach their own builder to agree a price and then manage their own projects whilst on site. However, I have worked with quite a few local builders if you are new to the area.
